Elizabeth Mcneilly

Elizabeth McNeilly, beloved soulmate of the late Robert McNeilly, Mother, Nana, and Great Nana, passed away peacefully at the Bennett Centre in Georgetown on July 23, 2024, surrounded by her family. Born in Lurgan, Northern Ireland, Elizabeth immigrated to Georgetown in 1953 with her husband, Robert, and their young son, David. Together, they built a life filled with love, dedication, and community spirit.

Elizabeth was a devoted mother to her five children, raising them in the close-knit town of Georgetown. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her family to the broader community. She was a proud and active member of the Georgetown Legion, eventually becoming the president of the Ladies Auxiliary. Elizabeth’s leadership and dedication to the legion were evident in all she did.

Elizabeth was a familiar and beloved figure in Georgetown for many years. Her entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly when she opened Elizabeth’s Fashions in downtown Georgetown in 1981. Her boutique became a local staple, known for its warm atmosphere and stylish offerings. Elizabeth also served as a board member for many years on the Downtown Georgetown BIA, working tirelessly to enhance and promote the downtown core.

Elizabeth and Robert were avid members of the Horticultural Society, where their shared passion for gardening earned them numerous awards for their beautiful gardens. Their home was a testament to their love of nature and each other.

As a local business owner, Elizabeth was a loyal supporter of local community groups and non-profit organizations. Her contributions to the local hospital and food bank were just a few examples of her generosity and commitment to making Georgetown a better place.

Elizabeth's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the Bennett Centre. Your love and support provided Elizabeth with comfort and joy in her final years, and we are forever thankful for your care.

Elizabeth was the loving mother of David (Pat), the late Gordon (Barb), Cheryl Donoghue, Kevin (the late Connie), Heather Burke (John), and Nana to Robin (Jarrod), Patrick, Nicole (Ryan), Taryn (Lewis), Natalie (Brandon), Megan (Steve), Bobby (Sarah), Michael (Lauren), Daryl (Dara), Robert, Erin (Dan) and her 15 great grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her legacy of love, community, and kindness will continue to inspire and guide us.
