Schmidt, Elisabeth "Lia" (nee Debbert) - Passed away peacefully, on Friday August 9, 2013 at Burton Manor, Brampton in her 80th year. Beloved wife of the late Bruno Schmidt. Loving mother of Wendy (Allan) of Germany and the late Wolfgang. Survived by her sister Gertrud and predeceased by her sister Christel and brother Guenter. Lia will be sadly missed by her dear friends Donna Walsh and Carole Hepburn as well as her family of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Georgetown. Lia will be remembered for her talent of knitting dresses and blankets donated to the Georgetown Hospital as well as many third world countries. Friends will be received at the J.S. Jones & Son Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Road, north of Maple Ave., Georgetown, (905) 877-3631 on Wednesday August 14, from 7-9 pm. Funeral service will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church (102 Mountainview Rd., S., Georgetown) on Thursday August 15, 2013 at 11:00 am. Cremation has taken place. Interment Greenwood Cemetery, Georgetown. Reception to follow in the Trafalgar Room at the Jones Funeral Home. In memory, contributions to the Georgetown Hospital Foundation or to Immanuel Lutheran Church would be appreciated.
