The family of Ed Lange is deeply saddened to announce his peaceful passing surrounded by family on November 6, 2023, at the Georgetown Hospital just days away from his 72nd birthday.
Ed will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Julie, of 27 years. Ed was a devoted and loving father to Derek and Shannon (Craig Kennelly) and a very proud Papa to Kaylim and Skye. Ed will be fondly remembered by Shelley (Mark Pytlik). Ed was predeceased by his parents Gunter and Theresia. He is survived by his brother Detlef and sister Carol (Monty) Cales, sister-in-law Clare Clout, brother-in-law David (Jackie) Symonds and many nieces and nephews.
Ed emigrated to Toronto from Germany as an infant with his parents. He subsequently lived in Brampton, Terra Cotta, and then Georgetown for the last 30 years.
Ed will be sorely missed by his life-long friends Ian Cromarty, John Molnar and Joe Valentini. For over 50 years, they have shared laughs, sorrow and true support and friendship with each other.
Ed began his work career as a Tool and Die Maker which developed the basis of his successful career as a salesman of non-ferrous melting and holding furnaces. Ed was very well respected within the industry, a long-time member and past president of the local NADCA chapter and a published writer of many technical papers.
Ed was an avid hockey player from a young age, proudly winning the most sportsman like player several times with the Killer Smurfs men’s team. Ed then took up golf after retiring from hockey and golfed at least weekly with Ian, John and Joe for many years.
Ed’s proudest accomplishments have been his children Derek and Shannon and his grandchildren Kaylim and Skye. Ed had a true love for his family and immensely enjoyed each and every moment he spent talking, guiding, and most importantly laughing with them.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Townsend Smith Foundation (building a hospice for North Halton), the MS Society or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
