Dragutin Vadjina

With the heaviest of hearts we announce the passing of Dragutin Vadjina. Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, took his final breath at Milton District Hospital on February 8, 2024 at the age of 91.

Greeted at the gates by his predeceased parents Stjepan and Paulina, siblings Stjepan, Franjo, Ivan, Slava and Bara, and his first granddaughter Marina. He leaves in sorrow his wife Slavica of 68 years and daughter Darinka Mulig (Drago).

Dragutin was born in Vranov Dol, Jastrebarsko Croatia on March 28, 1932. In 1985, he and Slavica moved to Canada to be closer to Darinka and her growing family. He will be dearly remembered by his five grandchildren, Davor (Diana), Marin (Andrea), Marko (Stephanie), Martina (Steven) and Karlo, as well as extended family and friends in Canada, Croatia and the US. It gives us peace to know that during his last decade on earth, he was able to share his love with his eight great-grandchildren Luka, Marina, Izabela, Oliver, Natalija, Elena, Antoni and Vera, who always brought a smile to his face.

Throughout his life he was always there to share life lessons and lend a helping hand. If you were lucky, he'd show up to your house with his shovel and make your neighbours wonder why you hired an 85 y.o to build you a garden. No job was too big or too hard for Deda. To know Dragutin is to know great strength and perseverance even in his final days.

Let us find comfort in the memories that will forever keep him alive in our hearts and may his soul rest in eternal peace.

Friends will be received at Jones Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Road, Georgetown, on Monday, February 12, 2024 from  2-4 & 6-8 p.m., with parish prayers at 7:00 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held at Croatian Martyrs Parish, 4605 Mississauga Rd, Mississauga, on Tuesday, February 13, at 10:00 a.m. Interment Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Georgetown.
