Dr. Ernest William Brown 

April 18, 1930 – February 20, 2026

Dr. Ernest William Brown passed away peacefully on February 20, 2026, at his home in Georgetown, with family at his side. Ernest was predeceased by Jean (née McLaughlin), his beloved wife and partner of 60 years, and by their son Jeffery. He leaves behind a loving family who will forever treasure his memory: his children Catherine (late Glenn Cameron), Carolyn (Aron Janvrin), and Jonathan (Kelly), and his daughter-in-law Wendy; his grandchildren Calvin Cameron, Tyler Janvrin, Haley Janvrin, and Ryan Janvrin; and his brother-in-law David McLaughlin.

Born and raised in Toronto, Ernest was the only child of Cecil and Dorothy Brown. He pursued his calling in medicine at the University of Toronto, where he earned his degree and began a distinguished career devoted to compassionate psychiatric care. Ernest became the first Chief of Psychiatry at the newly expanded Mississauga Hospital, a leadership role he held with dedication for many years. Around that same time, he and Jean fell in love with a farm west of Georgetown — a home that has become a tranquil oasis for the whole family. Later, Ernest brought his practice closer to that home, welcoming patients to his Mill Street office in town, where his wisdom and practical compassion continued to touch many lives.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the many doctors, nurses, personal support workers, and caregivers whose skill and dedication helped us to keep Ernest comfortable in his home in his final years.
