William Douglas Murchison

MURCHISON, WILLIAM DOUGLAS, Beloved husband and father passed away surrounded by family on January 27th, 2025 at the age of 81. Born in St. Joseph’s Hospital,Toronto, Ontario in 1943 to Bruce and Marion Murchison, he was known as Bill to his friends. Bill met the love of his life, Marion at 14, married her at 21 and they built a beautiful life full of love and laughter over 58 years together. He loved fast cars, Drambuie, all animals, great and small, hockey (he saw the Leafs win a few Stanley Cups) and a good story, whether he was telling one or reading one. Music coloured his life from singing in the church choir (lead by Glenn Gould before he became famous) as a child, playing the accordion, dancing to Buddy Holly and Elvis Presley, playing classical music and opera to his sleeping children and attending concerts and live theatre. Unlike Mr. Gould, Bill did not have perfect pitch. Bill is survived by his adoring wife Marion and his two grateful children, Trisha and Scott who are trying to live in a world without this wonderful man. Always willing to help those in need, in lieu of a funeral or flowers the family requests friends make a donation to their local animal shelter in Bill’s honour.
