Doreen Janet Rouillard

Rouillard, Doreen Janet – Passed away peacefully on February 3, 2025 in the Georgetown Hospital, at the age of 85 years. Beloved wife of 57 years to Art. Cherished mother of Michelle and Cindy (Mike). Proud grandmother to her grandcats Buffy and Archie, and granddogger Rosie.

Doreen is predeceased by her dear parents Jack and Doris Gilbert. She will be greatly missed by her beloved nieces and nephews.

Doreen had a deep love for life’s simple pleasures—whether it was winning at cards (especially a spirited game of Crazy 8s), reading a good book, crafting beautiful afghans for family and friends, cooking a delicious dinner, or savouring meals on the patio at her favourite restaurants.

A true animal lover, Doreen was affectionately known as “Mother Nature” by her family. She loved all animals, even the neighbourhood squirrels and chipmunks, who she would feed from her doorstep.

Doreen’s generosity extended beyond her family and friends; for 32 years, she volunteered at the Georgetown Hospital’s gift shop, spreading joy and warmth to patients and staff alike. She was a cherished part of that community, and her selflessness will be remembered by all who knew her.

She will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on through the countless lives she touched with her kindness and warmth.

Doreen’s family would like to sincerely thank the doctors, and nurses, and everyone who cared for her at the Georgetown Hospital, for their exemplary care of Doreen at the end of her life.

A memorial for friends and family will be held in the chapel at 11:30 a.m. at the Jones Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Road, Georgetown on Friday, February 7th 2025. A reception will follow the service.
