Recchia, Donato (Danny) Peacefully, he left us. After fighting a good fight to stay, his heart was too tired to go on. Surrounded by family at home, he went on to be with the ones who went before him, our hearts will be forever broken. Born in the Province of Latina, Italy, 1940. The son of Anna Marie and Vito Antonio Recchia, Brother to Mario, Angelo (deceased) Johnny (deceased), Uncle and cousin to many. Danny Leaves behind his Wife, his life love, his "hunny" Shirley, of 48yrs. His children Christine (Mark), Angeline (John), Tony (Stacie). Nonno to Seven grandchildren, (In order of arrival) Amber, Arielle, Brandan, Connor, Luca, Riley and Cameron. And Eight greatgrandchildren. All of whom will have memories of Immense love, secret mischief, and endless laughter. After arriving in Canada, Danny worked hard in construction and drove the big trucks for a time before settling into a career in building management with Shirley by his side for almost 40 yrs. Anyone who knew him got to see his big heart, his caring nature and willingness to help. He left imprints on people's lives, and will be forever remembered for his equally big sense of humor. Danny had a great love for the outdoors, walks by the river and endless hikes with his grandchildren. Offerings of food and drink were one of his many ways he showed his love, if you came to his home, you ate... a lot. We all could listen a thousand times over to the stories of his mischievous youth and childhood growing up during the war, some sad some outright hilarious. We will continue to share those stories along with his multiple uses for windex, his use of butter on any wound, and of course his unforgettable mispronunciation of English words, all of which we have adopted and use. His wisdom will live in us and with us, our profound love for him he takes with him.
Cremation has taken place; a decision will be made by family in the future as to how Danny's life will be respectfully honored. Un uomo amato oltre misura - A man loved beyond measure Una vita ben vissuta - A life well lived
