In Loving Memory of Donald Robert Lane

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Donald Robert Lane on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, in Georgetown, Ontario, following a long illness.

Don was born on December 6, 1954, on Bell Island, Newfoundland, the youngest of six children to George and Catherine Lane. In 1963, the Lane family moved to Georgetown in search of new opportunities, but Don’s deep love for his birthplace and Newfoundland remained a defining part of who he was.

He found joy in returning to the East Coast, where the ocean always called to him. Whether it was revisiting Newfoundland or escaping to warmer Caribbean beaches in winter, Don was most at peace by the water—watching the waves roll in, content lounging the shade.

Don will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 45 years, Colleen; his daughter Melissa (Ryan); his son Donnie (Talia); and his brother George (Marjory). He was predeceased by his parents, George and Catherine; sisters, Alice and Cecilia; and brothers, William and Gordon.

A celebration of Don’s life will be held on Monday, June 16, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Jones’ Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Road, Georgetown.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Don’s memory to the Oakville Hospital Foundation would be appreciated. The family is deeply grateful to the hospital staff for the exceptional care and compassion they provided.
