It is with deep love and sadness that we share the passing of Djuro “George” Hortik, who left us peacefully at his home in Georgetown on Friday, October 24, 2025, in his 87th year.
George was the beloved husband and lifelong partner of Spasenija, whose love and devotion were his greatest joy. He was the proud and loving Tata of Kristina (Anthony), Dario (Zvonka), and the late Spomenka (Robert), and the adored Dedo of Luka and Rocco, who brought endless happiness to his days.
He will be deeply missed by his sisters Elizabet (Stjepan) and Marija (Ivan), his brothers Ivan (Djurda) and Stjepan (Djurda), and is now reunited with his late brother Jozo (Bosa).
George was a humble, kind, and hardworking man who lived life with quiet strength and a big heart. He had a wonderful sense of humor, loved making his own wine, and took great pride in sharing it with family and friends. His home was always open, his smile always genuine, and his love for his family—and for his homeland Croatia
He will be forever remembered and deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
