Dennis Thorogood

Dennis Thorogood passed away at Amica Georgetown on Thursday, December 4th in his 94th year. Predeceased by his wife Crystal (2003). Missed by his sons Gregory and Godfrey (Veronica) and his grandchildren Josiah and Taleesha (Jeff Trost). Dennis was born in Mitcham, Surrey, UK. He immigrated to Canada in May 1965 with his family following in July 1965. The family lived in Brampton for two years before moving to Moore Park Crescent in Georgetown in September 1967. Dennis moved into Amica Seniors Residence in December 2023.

Dennis was a tool and die maker, primarily working for 32 years in the aircraft industry. Most of those years he worked at DeHavilland Aircraft in Downsview and retired in December 1997.

In the early 1950's Dennis served for two years in the Royal Air Force. As a young man, Dennis was a keen cyclist and an accomplished ballroom dancer. He enjoyed over 50 years of Legion darts in Georgetown and Brampton, winning numerous trophies and awards. He was also a decent golfer. A world traveler, he had an amazing ability to connect with people who became good friends. Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore and a number of European countries were some of the places he visited, along with semi-annual trips to the United Kingdom. He enjoyed a wonderful retirement and a busy, full life.

As a family, we want to express special thanks to the staff at Amica Georgetown for taking care of dad so well over the last two years.

Friends will be received at the Jones Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Road on Thursday December 11th, from 10:30 am until time of the Funeral Service held in the chapel at 11:30 am.
