David Close died on 21 December 2022 at the age of 84. He was born in Flint, Michigan and graduated from the University of Michigan with a Master's Degree in Instrumentation Engineering. He held many engineering jobs in Germany, the United States, and Canada. He enjoyed backpacking, canoeing, and cross-country skiing and loved telling stories about mountain climbing. He also enjoyed taking things apart, and sometimes put them back together. He loved designing and creating projects with his children and grandchildren and had a vast number of tools to get the job done; he was truly an engineer! Well-known for speaking his mind, he let his family know they were loved. Everyone had an endearing nickname, and giving hugs was his specialty. The family would like to thank the Village of Erin Meadows for their warm care and compassion. He is survived by his wife Joanne, son Paul (Diane), daughter Lenore (Steve) Foster, and son Earl (Wendy Hart), as well as his two sisters, Anne (Dick) Anderson and Phyllis Chambers and late brother Stephen (2014). His grandchildren are Benjamin, Christian, Samson, Amber, Laura, and Sean. A Celebration of David's life will take place at Jones Funeral Home on Saturday June 17, at 11:00am. Reception to follow. Donations may be made to the Georgetown Bread Basket or to the Georgetown Hospital.
