Dave Jackson

Jackson, Dave - We celebrate the life of Dave Jackson, who passed away suddenly at his home in Freelton on Thursday, December 5, 2024, in his 80th year. Dave was a devoted husband to Elaine for 58 years, a proud father to Paul (Lori) and Phil (Jen), and he cherished his role as Gramps to Aaron (Emily), Nathan, Matthew, Ryan and Jillian. He was a loving son to the late Fred and Ruth Jackson and a dear brother to Eunice (Richard). He was also a brother in law, uncle and great uncle to many.

Dave was known for his unshakeable faith and was eagerly awaiting the return of Christ. He was a devoted Christadelphian who loved to share his faith and spread the good word. He was an active servant in his church, helping with the establishment of the Scarborough ecclesia. He also faithfully served in many roles throughout the brotherhood in Christ.

He was a very involved father, coaching both of his boys in baseball, and attending every single game they both played. He played baseball well into his sixties and loved participating in all sports, especially road hockey with the family. A passionate animal lover, he adored all dogs, but none more than his childhood dog Rusty, and of course Westie and Kaylie.

Dave brought joy to everyone around him and humour to all situations. He was a great conversationalist who knew how to fill a silence, and liked to make his opinions known. A passionate entertainer, he loved nothing more than hosting family and friends at their home. He had an infectious laugh that could be picked out in any crowd. He was an avid outdoorsman, finding solace in fishing and puttering around the yard. He was known for his Green Bay Packers hat and love for the team, to the chagrin of his son and family in Minnesota. A loyal fan, Dave continued to cheer for the Leafs, even when they let him down. “If others wonder why I’m missing, just tell ‘em I’ve gone fishing.”

Family and friends will be received at the Jones Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Road, Georgetown (905) 877-3631 on Friday from 6-8 p.m.  A Celebration of Dave’s Life will be held in the chapel on Saturday December 14, 2024 at 10 a.m. Reception to follow in the Trafalgar Room. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the WCF (www.wcfoundation.org) or your local animal shelter or rescue would be appreciated.
