It is with profound sadness that we share the loss of Daniel John Engleby “Pooh Bear” in his 75th year. With his family by his side, Dan passed peacefully with his humour shining bright and his strength steady on Jan 22 2026.
Dan was a proud Georgetown resident his entire life, he had many friends and a strong sense of community. He knew everyone young and old, every scooter ride through town was a guaranteed social event. Despite his set back in 2005 when he had his stroke, he showed admirable strength, resiliency and positivity, always making the best of his situation. Dan was the best dad and friend, a solid foundation that was there for everyone, someone you could always count on. The funniest guy in the room, with his quick wit and love for telling jokes, he enjoyed making others laugh.
Devoted dad to Scott Engleby (Shannon), Michelle Engleby (Darryl), Krystal-Anne Van Alphen. A proud Grandad to Brittany (Mack), Cyril (Logan), Holden, Knox, Maria and Sadia and the most fun “Great Grandad” to Oakley, Mila and Brynlee. He will be deeply missed and cherished by his sister Jean Lorriman, brother Bill “Whitey” Engleby” and reunited with his late parents Cyril and Isobel Engleby and sister Shirley Hilts. He had a special friendship and connection with his son in law Darryl, that will be treasured.
The family extends a heart felt thank you for the support he has received from his PSWs and coordinator at 8 Durham St, over many years and to the compassionate care the doctors and nurses showed over his short stay in Palliative Care at Georgetown Hospital. For those interested, contributions to Links2Care Halton, specifically seniors’ program is greatly appreciated.
