Turnbull, Dale James- Peacefully, on Sunday November 10, 2013 at the Toronto Western Hospital, after a brave battle with brain cancer, at the age of 60. Dale was the treasured son of Edna and the late James Turnbull. Beautiful and loved brother of Pamela Eyre (the late Bruce) of London, Gloria Riddall of Mississauga, Glenn (Nancy) of Simcoe and Kimberly and a proud uncle and great uncle. Dale has been a familiar smiling face for many years, at Food Basics in Georgetown, happily helping his "customers". He was proud to named Employee of the Year in 2007 by the Halton Hills Chamber of Commerce for his outstanding customer service. His love of music was displayed in his young years, jamming with his neighbourhood friends as the "singer" in their basement band. Collecting a magnificent library of hundreds of LP's, everything from Hendrix, Eagles, Beatles, Nazareth and enjoyed many "living room hours" air banding with brother Glenn. Although he had an early childhood brain tumor, nothing held him back. He was an avid accomplished sportsman. He was a golfer, hand glider, downhill and water skier, played tennis and tried his hand at horseback riding. Dale loved to dance and took the floor at many community dances. His love of animals, birds and nature in general was displayed by his many personal photos and his love of the outdoors often took him for long walks to Cedarvale park and just sitting contemplating life, in his backyard. Special thanks to Dr. Gelareh Zadeh and caring staff @ UHN Toronto Western for the wonderful support. Dr. Zadeh told Dale he was a miracle last year and he expressed his appreciation with his usual big smile, which he managed to share with us through his brave struggle. Everyone loved Dale! Friends will be received at the J.S. Jones & Son Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Rd., north of Maple Ave., Georgetown 905-877-3631 on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Memorial service will be held in the chapel on Saturday November 16, 2013 at 11:00 am. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers contributions to the UHN-Toronto Western Hospital - Brain Tumor Research Funds; Cancer Assistance Services of Halton Hills or the Upper Credit Humane Society would be appreciated.
