Neil

December 16, 1937 — July 21, 2023

Cornelius Isaak 1937 - 2023

On July 21, his Lord and Saviour called Neil home after a difficult journey with cancer. This cherished man leaves behind his dearly loved wife Christina, his two sons, Douglas (Kimberly) and Andrew (Crystal) and four profoundly valued grandchildren Rebecca (Ian), Benjamin (fiancé Jessica), Jonathan and William, along with his three surviving brothers and sister and many, many nieces and nephews.

He was born to Gerhard and Helena, Mennonite people with a deep faith who came to Canada in search of a better life. Neil grew up on a farm in Springstein, Manitoba with his 5 brothers and sister, a place he loved and perhaps also where he learned both how to work hard and how to stop and enjoy a tasty Fastpa. The farm was also a place where he honed his hockey talent playing on the farm pond any free moment during the winter.

Neil was a quiet and humble man who thought little of himself and could always be counted on to lend a hand unless it conflicted with being available for his grandchildren. There was never any doubt that he loved his family dearly. Neil was a man who learned to be content in any circumstance he found himself. It can easily be said of him that he lived out the verse in Job 1:21- "The Lord gives and the Lord takes away. Blessed be the name of the Lord."

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Dr. Herman and staff at the cancer clinic at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital for their exceptional care.

A private graveside service will be held on July 26 for Christina, her two boys and their families.

In lieu of flowers, Neil requested that you consider making a donation to MCC - Ukraine, the county of his mother's birth.
