Cornelius Johannes De Groot

With faith, courage and dignity, on January 25, 2017 in Georgetown at the age of 86. Beloved husband of Anne of 57 years. Loving father of Simon (AnneLouise), Caroline, Peter (Lori) and William. Dear Opa to Amelia, Simon, Max and Joseph. Family friend to Sandy. Born in The Hague Holland, son of the late Simon and Johanna de Groot (Van Leersum). Brother to Wim and Jan (predeceased), Corrie, Harry, Carl and Simon. Loved by many in-laws, nieces and nephews. Kees will be remembered as a man dedicated to his family, his strong sense of principles, his sense of humour and his love for his horses and dogs. He was committed to the family meat business. In his later years he found great pleasure in maintaining his country property and playing cards with friends. Family and friends will be received at J.S. Jones Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Road, Georgetown, on Sunday January 29th from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Cross Catholic Parish, 14400 Argyll Road, Georgetown on Monday January 30, 2017 at 10:00am. Interment in Holy Redeemer Cemetery. Donations in memory of Kees can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
