It is with shattered, but peaceful hearts that we share the passing of Chris George, after a lionhearted 3.5 year battle with glioblastoma. Chris lived for his family; they were his motivation and driving force for all that he did. They were his proudest accomplishment. He was a beloved son, brother, father, uncle, nephew, boss and friend - but his most cherished title was Popa to his best boys, Oliver & Colton.
To navigate this incurable emptiness Chris has left his mother, Carole who he doted on, his 3 children, Jessica (Mike Krause), Matt and Chelsea, his adored sister, Tracy (TJ Hontz), sister-in-law Karen Callan and beloved puppy, Sawyer. Chris is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, cherished nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews who brought him so much joy. Waiting to welcome him home were his father, Alan who he missed deeply, his beloved grandparents, his cherished Ger and great-niece, Audrey.
When Chris wasn’t doting on his family, he could be found watching any sport he could find while flipping through the channels relaxing in his recliner. Be it golf, curling, cricket, darts, F1 racing or his beloved Liverpool FC, Chris loved sports of all kinds. Some of the best moments as a family were spent in just simply being together enjoying whatever sport was on at the time. Chris brought joy, kindness and laughter to every situation. He was a bright light in the darkness of the world and faced every situation with kindness, understanding and love. He had a charm and ease that made the biggest problems seem manageable simply because you had his support.
The family would like to extend our sincerest appreciation to the incredible staff in the C.T.C. ward of Georgetown Hospital for their care of both Dad and our family over the past few weeks. As well as the Credit Valley Cancer Center, specifically Dr. Pedro Carrera Garcia, Dr. Eric Marmor, Dr. Katrina Roberto, and Ashlee Bhatia, whose unwavering support, guidance and honestly over the last 3.5 years are beyond our ability to thank. They encouraged and motivated dad’s relentless positivity, bravery and stubbornness every step of this journey. Their guidance and advocacy gave us the most bittersweet gift of all - time - and for that we are eternally indebted to them all.
Family and friends will be received at Jones Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Rd, Georgetown on Wednesday July 30th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and 10:00 to 11:00 am on Thursday. A Celebration of Life for Chris will be held in the chapel on Thursday, July 31st at 11:00 AM. Reception to follow at the St. George, 7 Main St. N. Georgetown.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Chris’ honour to the Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities (Halton Hills Division) to bring Chris’ love of sport to children in his community.
