HOWARD, CAROLE LYNN (nee Hodgins) December 31, 1945 - June 1, 2016 We sadly announce the passing of Carole at the Georgetown Hospital. Beloved wife of Greg for almost 49 years and loving mother of Daniel (Christine Kormos) and Christopher (April Howard), proud grandmother of Beatrix, and predeceased by her parents, Ross and Ethel Hodgins (nee Roberts). Carole was also eagerly anticipating the birth of her second grandchild from April in early July. She will be greatly missed by her family, in-laws, much-loved nieces and nephews, and her dear friends and the community at St. Andrew's United Church.
She left this world as she lived - surrounded by, and radiating, love. She lived to love, and delighted in connections among the many important to her. Her gentle strength, steadfast devotion, and sense of humour will be profoundly missed, but her legacy of love lives on.
Carole was born in London, Ontario, attended South Collegiate and trained at Victoria Hospital. She worked as a Registered Nurse in hospitals in Hazelton, B.C.; Lusaka, Zambia; Grimsby and Georgetown, Ont.; and later worked in her community as a VON nurse.
We deeply appreciate the compassionate care and wise counsel received from the many excellent doctors and nurses involved in Carole's care at Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto and the Georgetown Hospital, as well as from within the family. Carole's faith and enduring grace throughout this difficult time has been an inspiration to us all. The Visitation will be held at St. Andrew's United Church (89 Mountainview Rd. South, Georgetown, Ont.: 905-877-4482) on Saturday, June 4th from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. A celebration of Carole's life will be held at St. Andrew's on Sunday, June 5th at 3 pm with a luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Stephen Lewis Foundation or St. Andrew's United Church would be appreciated. To send expressions of sympathy, visit www.jsjonesfuneralhome.com. Carole said lately that, through this cancer journey, she was "learning to dance." Now she is free to dance, unencumbered by the limits of a body.
