Brian Edward Drake

Georgetown, Ontario - Brian Edward Drake passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at the Georgetown Hospital with family and friends by his side. Brian was born January 16, 1936 in St. Pancras, London, England to Edward Herbert Drake and Lillian Victoria Freshwater. He was proud to have served in the West Middlesex's regiment (The Die Hards) for several years before marrying the love of his life, Joan Lillian Walker and starting a family. Sons Paul (Deanne Davies) and John (Monica Erdahl) were born in England before the family emigrated to Canada where youngest son Darren (Patti Bowie) was born. After living several years in Winnipeg, Brian settled his family in Calgary, Alberta where Brian worked in sales and as a small business owner. After retiring, Brian and Joan moved to Ontario to be closer to family. Brian will be remembered by all who knew him as a gregarious story teller and someone who took every chance to find the joyous side of life. Brian was predeceased by his loving wife Joan with whom the family finds solace in his being reunited and once again dancing in each other's arms. He is survived by his children, grandchildren: Michael (Erica Pavan), Jennifer (Adam Creamer), Marc, Katherine, Robert, Marissa, Kelly and three great-grandchildren. The family would like to extend its gratitude to the many health care and support workers who made Brian's last months ones of laughter and companionship. There will be a small family only celebration of his life. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society in his honour would be appreciated.
