Bonnie Smith

SMITH, Martha Bonnie, born November 30th, 1941 passed away on Wednesday, September 27th, 2023 with her family by her side.

Loving wife to Lloyd of 62 wonderful years.

Loving mother to Patti Slater (Kevin), Kathy Hughes (Rob), Greg Smith (Lea-Anne) and Susan Herring (Jason).

Loving Grandmother to Robert, Andrew and Lynne Slater, Kristen and Rachel Hughes, Meaghan, Lauren and Luke Smith, and Leah Appleton (Jacob), Evan and Nathan Herring.

Over the years, Bonnie served faithfully at her church in the Sunday School department, various ladies events and Pioneer Girls ministries.

Bonnie loved to share her baking with everyone and was known for her Apple pies, as well as baking everyone's favorites at Christmas. She loved to sew, from making her own wedding dress through to Christmas outfits and pajamas for the grandchildren.

Bonnie faced significant challenges as a young mother at a time when support services were not as available as today. She had wonderful support from her church community, friends and family. As a family, we have many fond memories of Mom at birthdays, Christmases, family weddings and summers at the cottage. She adored being a Grandma and enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren so their parents could have time away.

Friends can call at Jones Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Road, Georgetown, on Wednesday, October 4th, 2023 from 6-8pm

A celebration of Bonnie's life will be held at Living Hope Church, 290 Main Street South, Georgetown, on October 5th at 11am. Reception to follow.
