IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Bill
Fournier
March 19, 2026
Celebration of Life
Pop in anytime between 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. We will be in the Trafalgar Room Celebrating Bill
Fournier, Harold William “Bill”
Born in York Region and raised in Georgetown, Bill passed away peacefully in Georgetown on Thursday, March 19, 2026, in his 68th year.
Bill spent his early years in Georgetown before marrying his beloved wife, Leanne. Together they moved to the countryside in Erin, where they built a life and raised their four children: Jamie, Lex, Quinn, and Taran. He is lovingly remembered by his sisters Linda, Carol, Joan, Dianne, Laura, Susie, Brenda, and Julie, and by his brother Pete, along with many nieces and nephews.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, Bill was a proud GDHS Rebel wrestler before attending Ryerson University, where he earned a degree in Computer Science. A true technology trailblazer, he previewed some of the earliest laptops and handheld devices. More than 30 years ago, Bill predicted, “We will see a time where we all communicate with a device in our hands” — a vision well ahead of its time.
Sports were woven into every chapter of Bill’s life. From coaching ladies’ flag football to teaching his children how to play hockey, he was always involved. He spent countless hours in the basement playing goalie — famously known as “Igor Stopalot.” With a laugh, Bill once shared that in the span of just eight days, he had been in 14 different arenas cheering on his kids.
Known affectionately as “Bookie Bill,” he had a passion for sports pools and generously ran charity pools supporting local organizations such as Toys for Tots, Acton Foodshare, and East Wellington Community Services.
Bill once completed a half-marathon and continued his love of sports through golf, where he formed many lasting friendships. Whether doing backflips off the dock, riding his tractor in peaceful reflection, or spending evenings in the gazebo by the pond listening to rain or croaking frogs, Bill embraced life fully. Music was always part of the moment — there was never a wrong time to crank up Bob Seger, Cat Stevens, or Phil Collins and sing along at the top of his lungs.
A natural storyteller, Bill also enjoyed journalism and wrote a weekly column for the Erin Advocate. Family gatherings with his eight sisters, one brother, and extended family gave him the perfect stage — he was always the entertainer. A familiar face at Tony’s Bar, Bill enjoyed daily visits to catch up on local happenings, often playfully heckling Maple Leafs fans as a diehard Habs fan.
Bill showed his love for others in countless thoughtful ways — finding deals for his golf buddies, warming up cars and getting the gate, picking up fruit specials and apple juice for family and friends, or grabbing drinks for his son’s buddies. He simply loved people, and people loved him in return.
Bill will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his many friends and family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cancer Assistance Halton Hills.
A Celebration of Bill’s Life will be held on Sunday, March 22, 2026, in the Trafalgar Room at Jones Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Road, Georgetown, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.
