Audrey Pollard

November 25, 1941 — May 26, 2025

We are profoundly saddened to announce the peaceful passing of Audrey Pollard, in her 84th year, at the Allendale Long-Term Care Facility in Milton, Ont. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, John Pollard, of Streetsville, her three sons – David (Deborah), Rodney (Christine) and Jamie (Leigh) – and granddaughters Alexandra Young (Zack), Lauren and Maizie, great grandson Griffin, brother Harold Kenty (Clare) and sister Cheryl (Terry Jones). She is predeceased by her father Harold Kenty, mother Florence and brother-in-law Doug Gagnon.

Audrey was born in St. Catharines in 1941 but her heart was always in northern Ontario, particularly her childhood home of Cobalt. She spent many summers in the area, home to her parents and sister, and instilled a love of the north in her three boys.

But despite frequent trips north, it was Streetsville she called home for more than 60 years, and where she put down roots and started – then raised -- a family. It was also where she met John in high school -- she was smitten by his red hair, no doubt -- and the two started a loving relationship that continued until her passing, a total span of nearly seven decades.

Audrey has been described by friends and family as a classy, kind, loving and sweet lady who always put others first, a salt of the earth type who welcomed all those around her into her heart. Never a woman to put her career first, Audrey unapologetically focused on raising her family the right way, building a loving home and surrounding herself with life-long friends.

Audrey was also adventurous, traipsing around Europe with John, who was usually at the wheel of a Volkswagen van that struggled to climb mountain passes, and a young family in tow during four years of living in Germany (John was teaching Canadian children), first in Soest then in the Lahr area. She continued to travel with John around the world for as long as she was able.

In middle age, Audrey’s creative side awoke and she began making ceramic bell dolls that became her calling card. Many friends were gifted some of these dolls, with her nativity set popular around Christmas, another joyous time of year for Audrey.

Anyone who entered Audrey's life was touched by her giving, loving nature and that is how she will always be remembered.

Visitation and services for Audrey will be held on Monday, June 2, 2025 at Jones Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Road, Georgetown, Ontario.

Friends and family will be received from 1-2 p.m. A service to celebrate Audrey’s life will be held in the chapel at 2 p.m. Reception to follow in the Trafalgar Room.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer Society of Canada in the hopes of ending an insidious disease that had such an impact on Audrey’s final years.
