Antonius Van Doorn

Van Doorn, Antonius "Tom" - Peacefully, in the presence of his family on Friday September 25, 2015 at the Trillium Health Centre, Mississauga. Tom, in his 65th year, beloved husband of Elaine for 41 years. Loving father of Jennifer and her husband Jason Stinson, David, Nicolas and his partner Sara and Christopher and his partner Ruby. Proud Opa of Andrew and Jamie. Loved son of Truus Van Doorn and the late Nicolaas Van Doorn, and son-in-law of Marg and Les Edwards. Dear brother of Trudy (Steve), Ben (Debbie), Bill (Janet), Ray, Ron (Kim) and Caroline (Doug) and brother-in-law of Wendy (Lawrence) and Alan (Joelle). Tom will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews and friends.
A lifelong engineer with a tirelessly curious mind, he was president and a partner of Van Doorn Machine & Tool Ltd. which he co-founded nearly 30 years ago. He was our official quiz master, and loved to debate politics and history. He wrote his crosswords in pen, loved family dinners, and was most happy snoozing(snoring) with his family chatting and laughing around him. Dad was a fierce advocate for the underdog, and friends were always welcome in his home.
Visitation will be held at the J.S. Jones & Son Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Rd., north of Maple Ave., Georgetown 905-877-3631 on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Funeral service will be held at North Bramalea United Church (363 Howden Blvd., Brampton) on Thursday October 1st, 2015 at 11:00 am. Interment Hillcrest Cemetery, Norval. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or Trillium Health Centre (Cardiac Care Centre) would be appreciated.
