Anton Skok, (Tony) 93, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2025, at the Georgetown Hospital, CTC unit, in Ontario, Canada. The youngest son of Marijana and Franc Skok, born in Menges Slovenia, on October 18, 1931. Beloved husband of Vida for an amazing 59-plus years, Anton was a loving father to both Barbara (Barbi) Legere (Reggie) and Andrew (Andy my friendy) Skok. Anton (Papa) was adored by his three grandchildren, Bradyn, Evan, and Sheridan.
Anton is preceded in death by seven siblings: Marija, Ana, Lovro, Ivanka, Franc, and Peter. He is survived by his youngest sister Paula Golob and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews in Slovenia and Canada.
Anton served in the Yugoslavian army when young men were conscripted to service, defected to Austria, and eventually emigrated to Canada. Anton was a hardworking man and retired from Chrysler (AMC) after 30 years of service and enjoyed a second career in construction and co-owned and operated a business with his son. Anton played the accordion and loved the water.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at the Jones Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Road, Georgetown, on Thursday, January 16th, 2025, between 2:00-4:00 pm and 6:00 – 8:00 pm.
A Funeral Mass to celebrate Anton’s life will be held at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 14400 Argyll Road, Georgetown, on Friday, January 17, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., followed by interment at Holy Redeemer Cemetery 12001-12921 17 Side Rd, Acton, ON L7G 4S6.
