Alan Thompson

Charles Alan Thompson, MD of Georgetown - With sadness we announce the sudden passing of Al, in his 87th year on June 15, 2016. Al served his community as a Family Physician for 42 years; he was active in the founding of Georgetown District Memorial Hospital and the former Head of Staff at GDMH, involved with Esquesing School Board, Lions Club, and other community organizations. Survived by his beloved wife, and travelling companion of 63 years Erica (Thorne). Loving father of Paul (Henriette), Doug (Joy), Don (Lan), Jennie Greenfield (Chris), and Cheryl (Joe South). Proud grandfather of 12, and 1 great granddaughter. Will be sorely missed by his family, in laws, much loved nieces and nephews, and close friends. Al is predeceased by his brother Murray of Collingwood. Friends will be received on Tuesday, June 21 at the Georgetown Christian Reformed Church, 11611 Trafalgar Road, Georgetown, Ontario from 12:30 until a Celebration of Al's life at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances may be made to the Georgetown Hospital Foundation or Cancer Assistance Services of Halton Hills (CASHH).
